Since 1978, Dr. Thomas Nordstrom has been helping people resume their normal, active lives with extensive medical knowledge and well-honed surgical skill. Dr. Nordstrom is board-certified by the American Academy of Orthopeadic Surgeons. Dr. Nordstrom is a Cum Lauda graduate of Hobart College in Geneva New York. He attended Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, in New Brunswick and graduated with honors. He completed his surgical internship at Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr. Nordstrom did his Orthopeadic residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
Since coming to central New Jersey in 1983, Dr. Nordstrom has been involved in various levels of medical care for competitive athletics including high school football, basketball, lacrosse and other sports. He participated as a volunteer physician in the summer Olympic games in Atlanta, Georgia in 1996. He was the Team Physician at the Lake Placid Olympic training center in the summer of 2000. Dr. Nordstrom is presently the Chairman of the Division of Orthopedics at Somerset Medical Center. He is also involved in many local, state and national medical societies.
A former college tennis player and tennis teaching professional, Dr. Nordstrom understands the demands on an athlete’s body and focuses his treatment to optimize the athlete’s ability to return to play. He continues to play tennis locally and plays in National USTA sanctioned tournaments for his age group. He, therefore, has a personal and professional interest in the aging athlete, or so called “Boomeritis”.
Dr. Nordstrom’s expertise is not reserved for athletes alone. Dr. Nordstrom also sub- specializes in joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee. He performs arthroscopy and reconstructive surgery of the knee. He also treats various hand and foot injuries and deformities, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger fingers and bunions.
